Fixed or Double Sewn
Double sewn or fixed Protective Sleeve is sewn the full length of the sleeve twice with heavy nylon thread to provide a seam that nears the strength of the fabric. The hose must be pulled through the length of the sleeve using a fish tape or rope. Often a rope is included with the hoses to allow for the replacement of failed hoses. Double sewn is preferable for hose bundles that are pulled on and off a reel. It is also best for hoses that are pulled along the ground, such as petroleum tankers that are frequently loading and unloading. The sleeve needs to be large enough to slide over couplings on the end of the hose.
Hook and Loop (Velcro®)
Polyamide hook – Velcro® – is sewn to one edge of the fabric and the loop is sewn to the other edge. Hook and loop sleeve is rolled out flat and the hoses are laid on top of it. The sleeve is then wrapped over the hose and fastened with the hook and loop. The hook and loop can be opened for repairs or replacement of a hose. Hook and loop construction allows the sleeve to fit more snugly. The hook and loop is available in selected colours.
Standard 1½″ hook and loop is used most often. 1″ is available for small sleeve as well as 2″ and 3″ for larger/tougher applications. Wide hook and loop can also allow the size of the sleeve to be adjusted at installation.
Duplex
Duplex sleeve is used to separate hoses or wires. The sleeve is constructed with two or more tubes to provide separation and reduce possible wear from hoses or wires rubbing. A load bearing cable might be inserted in one tube to act a support for the hoses or wires in the other tube.
Access Points & Openings
Sleeves can be constructed with openings for access for inspection and repairs or for connections such as gauges and test points at intermediate locations.
Other Options
We can also supply tension straps to ensure the hoses are secure or Hook and Loop (Velcro®) ends allowing multiple sleeves to be joined together.
